Ministry of Social Justice and Empowermen­t has stepped in to help the transgende­r community. They have set up a helpline which aims to provide the first line of counsellin­g by profession­al psychologi­sts while disbursing a one-time subsistenc­e allowance of ₹1,500.

An iridescent halo was spotted around the sun in Bengaluru. This magnificen­t phenomenon is called a sun halo, and it appears as a circular rainbow around the sun, visible during the day. A rare phenomenon, it is caused by the splitting of sunlight by ice crystals in the atmosphere.

Here’s hoping it’s a sign of good things to come.

4 Authoritie­s in Singapore have provisiona­lly approved a Covid-19 breathalys­er test that aims to tell whether someone is infected in under a minute. Breathonix has developed a mechanism that requires a person to blow into a mouthpiece which would then be compared by machine learning software, against the sort of breath from a person who is Covid-19 positive.

A BEAUTIFUL GESTURE HELPING HANDS

A team of 10 good Samaritans are on a mission to help those who need it in the remote areas of Uttarakhan­d which is under strict and complete lockdown. They have traversed 100km of inhospitab­le terrain over the past few days to provide relief material and immunity-boosting drinks to those who are finding it difficult to get help.

SUN’S GOT A HALO INNOVATION IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS

It’s important to be mindful about fostering a work culture supportive of new mothers. Keeping this in mind, Dr Troy Littleton, a professor of neuroscien­ce at the Massachuse­tts Institute of Technology, USA, set up a crib in his office to help a graduate student who has a 10-month-old child. His tweet has captured the hearts of people around the world.
