SKILL TRAINING FOR BETTER JOB PROSPECTS

The Uttar Pradesh government has provided employment to 4 lakh youths

The Yogi government has done an exceptiona­l job in helping the youth in skill developmen­t and employment.

During the past four and a half years, the UP government has helped to provide employment to more than 4 lakh youths. These skilled youngsters, are also becoming self-reliant through various schemes of the government.

Interestin­gly, the skill developmen­t department has set a target of training about 7 lakh youths in this financial year. Fulfilling its promise of providing employment to the youth, in the last 4.5 years, as many as 4,10,858 youths have been provided employment in the Skill Developmen­t Department. During previous government, between 2013 and 2017, only 1,36,160 youths were provided jobs. The state government has also broken all the previous records in the skill developmen­t of youth by training them.

BIG INDUSTRIAL ESTABLISHM­ENTS TO PROVIDE TRAINING

To prepare the youth for the industry, the skill developmen­t department has made a contract with the private training providers, so that the skills of the youth can be honed. In this sequence, 24 major industrial establishm­ents have also been included.

During the 4.5 years of the Yogi Government, 735 private training providers have been contracted through Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) and other schemes, whereas in the previous government, only 148 training providers were contracted for the skill developmen­t of the youth.

In addition, the Skill Developmen­t Department has contacted 24 major industrial establishm­ents in the manufactur­ing and services sector as flexi training providers, so that the youth can get a chance to work in the industries.

EMPLOYMENT THROUGH PLACEMENT AGENCIES

Efforts are being made to provide employment to the youth along with skill developmen­t. In this regard, the Skill Developmen­t Department has made contracts with eight placement agencies in four years, whereas in the previous government­s only three companies were signed.

■ 708 skill developmen­t training centres operationa­l at Tehsil level

■ PM Skill developmen­t centers operationa­l in 74 districts
