G Noida: Newly formed cultural dept plans event to promote local talent
GREATER NOIDA: The newly formed department of culture of the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority is organising a cultural programme at a ground in the Alpha-2 market complex on Friday. Named ‘Prati Dhvani- a youth cultural fest’, students from Sharda University in Greater Noida will perform in the programme.
On March 31, the Greater Noida authority formed the department of culture with the aim to promote folk and traditional art and make Greater a hub of cultural performances. The main motive of the department is to encourage local youth, artists, students from local universities, schools and social organisations to come forward and showcase their talent.
“Senior officials of the GNIDA have been appointed as members of the cultural department and will oversee its operations. Representatives of universities and colleges in Greater Noida are also members of the department. It has been decided that the department will organise cultural programmes every month at different locations in Greater Noida. These events will be free for all and will be held on weekends from 6pm onwards,” said Narendra Bhooshan, chief executive officer of GNIDA.
The event on Friday will see participation of students from different states of India as well as from different countries. “The theme of the programme is patriotism and students have prepared dance and music performances based on that. The students will showcase the culture from their native states and countries as Sharda University has students from 25 states of India and 85 countries,” said Dr Ajit Kumar, director (public relations) Sharda University.
