Cops bust gang of vehicle lifters in Noida, 3 nabbed

NOIDA: An interstate gang of vehicle-lifters was busted on Sunday as three suspects were nabbed from Sector 62 in Noida, the Gautam Budh Nagar police said on Monday. The police said that they also recovered 24 twowheeler­s from the possession of the two suspects.

According to the police, the gang members used to steal two-wheelers, dismantle them and sell their spare parts in Delhi’s Mayapuri market.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Sunil Marik, Ravikant and Mahesh Kumar, all residents of Mayapuri in the national Capital.

According to the police, the arrested suspects are part of a gang comprising six vehicle-lifters operating in the Delhi-ncr area for the last five to six years. The other three suspects have been identified as Aamir, Musetin and Balram alias Aryan, the police added. While Aamir and Musetin are residents of

Amroha district in Uttar Pradesh, Balram hails from Bishanpur village in Sector 62, Noida.

“Aamir is the head of the gang. Other members of the gang stole the two-wheelers in Noida, Ghaziabad and Delhi and brought them to Amroha district, where Aamir runs a spare parts shop. Once the number of stolen vehicles reached 10-15, he would dismantle them and get the spare parts transporte­d to Delhi via trucks operated by Ravikant and driven by Sunil,” said Rajesh S, DCP, Gautam Budh Nagar.

“It was revealed that the gang has been active since the last six years. Sunil and Ravikant would run loader trucks filled with spare parts from Amroha to Delhi and sell them in the Mayapuri market. Efforts are underway to arrest the other three suspects and they will be in custody soon,” added DCP Rajesh.

The suspects have been booked under Section 379 (punishment for theft) of the Indian Penal Code. The police recovered 21 motorcycle­s, three scooties, one loader truck and two dismantled engines from them.
