Security beefed up in GB Nagar, Gzb ahead of Eid
NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: Over 3,000 police personnel will be deployed across Gautam Budh Nagar district ahead of Eid-ulfitr celebrations on Tuesday, authorities said on Monday, adding that the personnel will remain on high alert in sensitive areas and will deploy drone cameras for surveillance.
According to Love Kumar, joint commissioner of police (law and order), Gautam Budh Nagar, there are at least six sensitive areas in the district where heavy police deployment will be ensured. “These areas include Sector 5 adjoining the Jama Masjid in Noida and Jarcha village in Dadri. Traffic arrangements have also been planned in the morning while Eid prayers are offered. Each zone in Gautam Budh Nagar district has one drone camera each, which will be used to keep a close vigil,” JCP Kumar added.
The Gautam Budh Nagar police commissionerate is divided into three zones — Noida, Central Noida and Greater Noida. Kumar said that police teams are also monitoring social media websites in order to keep a check on rumour-mongering. “Every police station has a team of personnel scrutinising social media for any misinformed posts. Rumour-mongers will be dealt with strictly,” JCP Kumar said.
Gautam Budh Nagar police
commissioner Alok Singh also held a meeting with all senior police officers to review security arrangements ahead of Eid.
Meanwhile, according to an order released Sunday night,
Section 144 of the CRPC has been enforced in the district from May 1 to 31 in view of the upcoming festivals and increasing Covid-19 infections.
In neighbouring Ghaziabad, police said they will carry out drone surveillance and conduct route marches before Eid festivities begin. Prayers will be offered at 224 mosques across Ghaziabad on Eid, police said, adding that they met several religious leaders in the district to ensure that peace and harmony is maintained.
“I have asked circle officers and additional SPS for drone surveillance in areas with a mixed population. They will also carry out route marches. Our personnel will be equipped with antiriot equipment as well. We have held peace committee meetings with religious leaders and have requested them not to conduct their Eid prayers in public places,” senior superintendent of police Muniraj G said.
“The district has been divided into six zones with 100 sectors and further into sub-sectors to ensure law and order. We will focus on sensitive areas, primarily those with a mixed population, such as Loni, Dasna/masuri, Muradnagar and Sahibabad, among others,” Muniraj added.
The district police recently carried out a drive against loudspeakers at religious and other places. Records indicate that 1,447 loudspeakers were removed while the sound levels of 381 others were reduced during the drive till April 30. The drive began after the Uttar Pradesh government on April 24 issued an order directing the removal of illegal loudspeakers from religious places across the state.
