Herbal medicine to cure diabetes
Diabetes is a chronic disease; its root cause is the defective ability of the body to produce insulin — either it produces little or no insulin (type 1), or it cannot effectively use the insulin that it produces (type 2). Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas that helps blood sugar (glucose) to leave blood and enter the cells, to be used as fuel.
TYPE 1 DIABETES
This condition is also called insulin-dependent, immune-mediated or juvenile-onset diabetes. It is caused by an auto-immune reaction where the body’s defence system attacks the insulin-producing cells. This can affect people of any age, including children and young adults. People with this condition require insulin injections daily in order to control the levels of glucose in their blood.
TYPE 2 DIABETES
This condition is also called non-insulin-dependent or adult-onset diabetes. Type 2 diabetic patients can control glucose in the blood through a healthy diet, regular exercise, oral medication, and if required, insulin too. It is most common among people older than 45, who are mostly overweight. It is common among obese kids and young adults. Type 2 diabetes being the most common kind, it accounts for 90-95% of all diabetics. This condition can lead to serious complications, if it is not diagnosed and treated. Millions around the globe remain unaware of this condition, while others do not have access to adequate medical care. It is also linked to genetic factors, but obesity, physical inactivity and an unhealthy diet are the main causes.
GESTATIONAL DIABETES
Some women develop this type of diabetes when they are pregnant. It is mostly temporary. This condition can occur in 2-5% of all pregnancies, and usually ends when the pregnancy is over. Women with this condition have an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
IMPAIRED GLUCOSE TOLERANCE (IGT)
People with this condition have above normal glucose levels, but below the level at which diabetes is diagnosed. People with IGT have a significant risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Changes in their lifestyle, their diet, and physical activity can reduce that risk.
