Kareena Kapoor Khan
Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016 showcased several shimmering silhouettes. And designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s grand finale was a befitting tribute to the trend of the season. Kareena Kapoor Khan, the face of Lakmé Absolute, was the showstopper for Sabyasachi. The finale also featured a performance by the Symphony Orchestra of India.
Sabyasachi’s designs have been appreciated for their tapestry, and for the way they celebrate India’s rich heritage through handloom fabrics and craftsmanship. His collection at Lakmé Fashion Week also showcased sportswear, along with fabrics weaved into salwar suits, kurtas and saris. Bejewelled micro-mini dresses that are perfect for the upcoming festive and cocktail season were also presented. He says, “Being part of Lakmé Fashion Week, where I also made my debut in fashion, always feels like a walk down memory lane. It was an honour to showcase at the grand finale again and to work with an inspiring brand like Lakmé. I have enjoyed creating this collection, which has been inspired by the Illuminate statement.”
Purnima Lamba, head of innovations, Lakmé, says, “Few designers can present Illuminate –– a beauty statement that has made its mark on international runways –– like Sabya has for the grand finale. He created the most mesmerising collection, and we are proud to be associated with a designer of his calibre.”
Kareena, who looked beautiful in the Sabyasachi design, says, “It’s always exciting to be the showstopper for the Lakmé Absolute grand finale, especially this time around, and to be the muse for Sabyasachi. I love his designs and wear them often. His creations for the Illuminate collection are fabulous. Lakmé and Sabyasachi are the ultimate combination on a runway. I am glad I was part of this.”
Lakmé Fashion Week’s official makeup expert and the man behind the Illuminate inspired makeup, Donald Simrock, says, “It was my debut. I’ve had a fantastic experience being part of Lakmé Fashion Week. Illuminate is the biggest trend rising from international runways this year. I am thrilled to have partnered with Lakmé to create looks inspired by the trend for a show of such magnitude in India.”
With Lakmé launching the Absolute Illuminate range earlier, the brand is back with Illuminate 2.0, a range designed to create looks that celebrate the glamour of shimmer. It is all about luminous makeup. Lakmé’s new line of Illuminate makeup includes the Lakmé Absolute Illuminating Foundation, a few must-have metallic shades of the Lakmé Absolute Shine Line, and a limited Sabyasachi edition of Lakmé Absolute Sun-Kissed Bronzer, Moon-Lit Highlighter and Lakmé Absolute Illuminating Shimmer Brick.
