For the past few months, rumours have been rife that the shooting of Veereere Di Wedding — which stars Sonam Kapoor (above right) and Kareena Kapoor Khan (above left) — was being delayed due to financial issues. There was even talk of Kareena’s pregnancy being one of the reasons for the delay. However, Anil Kapoor, whose company is producing the film, has finally confirmed that the film go on the floors in April next year.

“Kareena is to deliver her baby in December. Then, she will start working on her body, which is the information that Rhea (Kapoor; daughter) has given to me. So, we are working [on the film] accordingly. In fact, Bebo has threatened that she is going to look her best ever [in the film]. And as I know her, I am sure Kareena is going to look her best,” he says.

Kapoor adds that “all the girls are very happy” to be working in the film. “I watched Swara’s (Bhaskar) film Nil Battey Sannata (2015) on a flight, and I told her that she was fantastic in it. And I feel Tiku’s (Talsania) daughter, Shikha is a volcano of talent. So, with these four talented girls joining forces with Rhea, and with the presence of Shashanka Ghosh (director), I think it will be a special film,” he adds.

The actor-producer says he has heard the script, and thinks it’s “fun and entertaining.” “It’s about friendship, and I feel that in today’s world, besides your family supporting you, sometimes friendship can go beyond family. So that’s what the film is about,” he says.

Kapoor has produced multiplemu films, but ask him aboutab direction, and he asks, “Where is the time for that? To direct a film, the one thing you need in ample supply is time. There are too many things on the platter right now. As of now, it [direction] doesn’t look like a possibility, but you never know. As they say, never say never.” The actor says he’s “caught up with loads of work”, but feels fortunate. “I still get good offers and I still say no. I am as competitive as my kids (laughs). Healthy competition is good and it keeps you going. Without that, you become like a pumpkin (laughs),” he says.
