There will always be haters: Lisa Haydon

Actors are often associated with a particular dialogue in a film. Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Rahul, naam toh suna hi hoga’, from Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), and Sanjay Dutt’s ‘Tension lene ka nahin, sirf dene ka’, from Munna Bhai MBBS (2003), are a couple of the many examples. Lisa Haydon recently joined the club for making the word ‘vataavaran’ popular with her cameo in Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Ask her about it, and she says, “I met Karan Johar recently at Manish Malhotra’s party, and he gave me a big hug and said, ‘Did you imagine that one word could make you so popular?’ (laughs) The response has been amazing.”

While a lot of people loved Lisa’s role in the film, a news article criticised it by hinting that her character was “brainless”. The actor says, “There will always be haters, but I feel that every character can be perceived in different ways. I thought that my character was more than a gold-digger in the film, and there was a different side to her as well. There are different kinds of roles in every film, and it’s nice to be able to do that.”

The actor tied the knot with businessman Dino Lalvani in October this year. The actor says that “nothing has changed” post the wedding. “Married life is wonderful. I would have done the whole marriage thing much earlier (laughs). It’s a very exciting period,” she says.

Lisa will soon be seen in a web series. The actor says she does not see the move from the big screen to the web as a step back. “I don’t think it makes much of a difference. Quite frankly, it’s not like I’m not getting offered films. But I chose to be a part of this web series, because I believe that it doesn’t matter what medium you choose to be part of as long as you are doing good work,” says the Housefull 3 actor.
