Salman, Karan to produce film starring Akshay Kumar

-

For the first time, three of the biggest names in Bollywood are coming together to make a movie. Salman Khan and Karan Johar will be collaborating as producers for the first time for a film starring Akshay Kumar. Under his banner, Salman Khan Films, Salman has produced films such as Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) and is currently working on Tubelight.

Karan and Salman’s production will be directed by Anurag Singh, who has enthralled audiences with Punjabi blockbusters such as Jatt and Juliet (2012) and Punjab 1984 (2014). The film is set to go on the floors in the second half of 2017 and will be released in 2018.

Karan says, “I am excited to collaborate with Salman Khan Films on this ambitious film. Not only is Akshay a dear friend and a supremely versatile actor, he is also a great mind to engage with. These illustrious men will make this film large in scale and heart.”

Salman, who is working with Karan for the first time since Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), says, “This is a perfect announcement for the new year. I’m happy that Salman Khan Films is collaborating with my friend Akshay, who has grown as an actor. It will also be our first co-production with Dharma

Productions. In fact, Karan and I last worked together on Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and now we are turning co-producers with our new film. I am truly excited about the three of us coming together to make an important film.”

Akshay also says that he couldn’t have asked for a better start to the new year. “Two heavyweights of the industry — one an ace film-maker and the other an A-list contemporary and a friend — are coming together for a project that will star me. That doesn’t happen too often,” he says. The actor adds that the subject of the film will be “interesting”. “I, for one, can’t wait,” he says.
