Wrestler-actor Sangram Singh has pledged to educate deserving and underprivileged students every year from his school in his village, Madina, in Rohtak district, Haryana. Initially, he will induct 14 girls and 7 boys, and plans to raise the number by two students each year.

“I studied in a government school till Class 10, and felt deprived many times when I didn’t have the resources to finish my projects or take up new courses. I felt the need to give something back to society, so I chose to help educate these kids. I feel that if God has given me enough, I should help others in need as well. We will zero in on the names with the help of the school’s principal and team. I want to ensure deserving kids get the chance to fulfil their dreams. This is a small effort on my part, and I hope others also come forward and help kids from their areas.”

Sangram will provide for the students’ uniforms, school fees, books and sports equipment until they pass out from school. Sangram supports several charities and social causes, and is associated with a cause that aims to save and adopt cows. He has also adopted a school in Satara, Maharastra.

“I feel one should be positive in life. Only then will you see the good in other people. Be a part of a good initiative and keep at it. I want to help as many people as I can in my lifetime. As the saying goes, vidya daan is the biggest daan (educating someone is the biggest charity), so I feel privileged to be able to lend a helping hand to secure the future of our children,” says Sangram.

I feel one should be positive in life. Only then will you see the good in other people. Be a part of a good initiative and keep at it. SANGRAM SINGH, ACTOR
