Director duo Abbas-Mustan’s new romantic thriller, titled Machine, will see Mustafa Burmawalla (right), Abbas Burmawalla’s son, making his debut. Mustafa will be paired opposite Kiara Advani in this “love story with a twist”. The movie will also feature Carla Dennis and Eshaan Shankar. While star-kids usually have their debuts planned for them in advance, Mustafa wasn’t on the directors’ list of actors until the film’s script was finished. Mustan says, “Mustafa has worked as an assistant director in our films. He went to New York (USA) to study filmmaking and has been assisting us since then. When the writer came to us with the script, Mustafa, who is very good at enacting scenes, gave us all a narration. Our brother Hussain’s (Burmawalla) son is also keen on direction, and he was the one who pointed out that Mustafa would be a good choice. Eventually, we asked Mustafa to enact a few different scenes and were convinced that he was ready to make his debut.”

The teaser poster of the film, which was released recently, has been reposted by Salman Khan and Kapil Sharma on their social media accounts. Speaking about his association with Salman, Abbas says, “We have known Salman and his family for a really long time. His father, Salim Khan, has always been a close friend ever since we worked together in Falak (1988), when Mustan and I edited the film. We have kept in touch since then. When Salman saw a few rushes of the teaser, he loved it so much that he decided to share the teaser. He was very impressed and decided to post about Mustafa on his social media account.”

Jayantilal Gada (PEN) presents a Haresh Patel, Pranay Chokshi, Dhaval Jayantilal Gada, and Abbas-Mustan production, Machine, which releases on March 24.
