He had a fantastic 2016 with three back-to-back hits – Airlift, Housefull 3 and Rustom. And looks like, Akshay Kumar’s (left) tryst with box office successes will continue with his latest release, Jolly LLB 2. According to trade experts, the Subhash Kapoor-directed film has opened “very well” on the first day (February 10), and will be the star’s fourth hit in a row. “Jolly LLB 2 has had a good opening on Friday. It looks like it’s set to join the series of Akshay’s hits. The reason being, the fantastic reviews and a lot of appreciation. So, you can safely say that it looks set to be Akshay’s consecutive fourth hit,” says distributor Sanjay Chattar. Experts further add that Jolly LLB 2 first-day numbers are “more than impressive” despite the fact that it released on a non-holiday. “I have watched the film and it’s a good one. And since the appreciation is also coming in numbers, it’s going to have a good weekend,” says Amod Mehra, trade analyst.

As per early estimates (on Friday), Jolly LLB 2’s opening day figure should be ‘anything between ` 13 to ` 15 crore’. “Akshay is in a great space right now. He is picking up different kinds of films with a sense of belief. That’s why audiences are lapping up his films. As for Jolly LLB 2, it should start the year for him the way Airlift did last year,” says Amul Vikas Mohan, trade analyst.

Exhibitor-distributor Akshaye Rathi adds “it’s another sure shot ` 100 crore film” from Akshay. “The word of mouth publicity is good. Additionally, production values are great along with a gripping storyline. Also, there is Akshay, so it should breeze through the box office,” he says.
