Kapoor (above) turns 70 today, but he defies age as just a number. He says that life is all about laughing, drinking and enjoying with your family till you are alive. Ask him if there are any special plans for his birthday, the actor quips, “It is going to be impromptu. You don’t need to prepare for a family gathering. We have one almost every night, where we meet, laugh, get drunk and come back home. We’re one family who is happy among ourselves only.”

While Kapoor family get-togethers have always been the talk of the town, one wonders what the clan mostly talks about at their Khandaani parties. “Booze, women, sex, dirty jokes… what else? We don’t sulk and cry over each other’s shoulders. We don’t b**** or backbite about other people in the fraternity. We are not even concerned with what anyone else is doing in life. We are so occupied among ourselves. We’re too busy to think about or bother about anybody else,” reveals Randhir.

But do they also talk about the next generation in the family — their relationship status, marriage plans, films and grandkids? Randhir says, “We are like the stock exchange. We know everything that’s happening in the family. Since our kids are in the same profession, we all know where they are placed. As a joke maybe, we discuss their girlfriends, boyfriends, marriage, etc, but not with the intention of interfering.”

Calling the Kapoors a rather ‘non-interfering clan’, the actor adds, “Everyone is free to make decisions. We are united. All of us are together all the time. We eat, drink and sing together, but we don’t interfere in each other’s business.”

When asked to recount a special birthday memory, the Kal Aaj Aur Kal (1971) actor gets emotional and says, “All birthdays are good. You are getting closer to death. You’re getting older. You can smile and laugh at it. It does not have to be bad. We all have to go one day. So, I just want God to bless me with good health.”
