Children turn into chefs
The Hindustan Times Kala Ghoda Arts festival 2017 (HTKGAF) was on from February 4 to 12. The Monginis Be A Baker competition was one of the numerous events that took place at HTKGAF. The event involved toddlers making designs on a sponge cake using frosting, ganache and edible decorations such as chocolate stars, leaves and confetti.
The competition was held at Museum Gardens and it saw a turnout of over a hundred people on the first day. The kids wore chef hats and slid into the aprons. There were a variety of designs at the event. While some kids placed stars on their cakes and intricately bordered them with frosting, a few six-year-olds enjoyed themselves without the worry of losing the competition. Parents of the little chefs were overwhelmed to see their kids explore their creativity.
One of the parents, Vidhi said, “It’s a very creative event where the kids are actually doing something more productive than just going to school. It’s nice to see them having a good time.” The second day saw the venue overflowing with participants and Monginis had to shut the registration desks. There were 17 winners on both the days. Seven-year-old Pratham was the youngest. The final event was conducted on February 11. The winners got vouchers for ` 5000,
` 3000 and ` 2000 along with a gift voucher which could be redeemed for designer cakes for their family. This gift voucher was valid for a year. Participants were also given coupons for a trip to Mongiland, Monginis’s factory in Bhiwandi. Hetvi, Eve and Sanchita bagged the first, second and the third place respectively.
