Special screenings for Indian Navy officers

-

The makers of the muchanticipated Indo-Pak war film, The Ghazi Attack, are planning to pay a tribute to some of our unsung heroes, officers of the Indian Navy. The makers are in talks for special screenings of the film throughout the country for the officers, as a salute to their courage and service to the nation.

The film is based on true events — the undisclosed underwater war between the two nations in the year 1971. The movie highlights this important event by depicting how PNS Ghazi, a Pakistani submarine, was on a mission to attack the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant by entering Indian waters. The Indian forces showed utmost courage, patriotism and intelligence, fighting back the intruders and saving their ship.

The film is a tribute to the immense contribution of the naval officers to national security — the underwater setting makes it even more thrilling.

At the screenings, the filmmakers might be able to invite some of the naval officers who were actually present at the Ghazi versus Vikrant operation. This will be one of the high points of the screening experience.

Karan Johar & AA Films present India’s first war-at-sea film, The Ghazi Attack, releasing today (February 17). The film stars Rana Daggubati, Kay Kay Menon, Atul Kulkarni, Taapsee Pannu and the late Om Puri.
