A racey finish to the Maruti Suzuki FMSCI Indian National Autocross Championsh­ip made motorsport crazy fans ask for more

Athrilling grand finale of the first ever Maruti Suzuki Federation of Motorsport Clubs of India Indian National Autocross Championsh­ip concluded recently at Buddh Internatio­nal Circuit, Greater Noida. Since 2002, the Maruti Suzuki Autocross has been providing a platform that encourages aspiring motorsport enthusiast­s to showcase their talent and test their skills in a safe environmen­t. It received an overwhelmi­ng response. from more than 1000 participan­ts across the country in its city editions, around the year.

The three day finale of the Autocross witnessed 24 champions from southern India compete with 24 champions from northern India in six different categories. The participan­ts were introduced to a specially created track, that is full of steep turns and tight bends, under the watchful eyes of Safety Stewards along the tracks.

The roaring cars came to a halt on Sunday with Amanpreet Ahluwalia winning the championsh­ip and taking home a brand new Maruti Suzuki Swift as the prize.

Speaking on the successful final edition, Vinay Pant, assistant vice president (marketing), Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “Over the years, Maruti Suzuki has brought motor sports within the reach of aspiring enthusiast­s and unlocked an avenue for racing aspirants to experience the thrill of the motor sport world.”

“The Maruti Suzuki Indian National Autocross Championsh­ip has become the most anticipate­d event in the racing fraternity for making motorsport­s more than just a hobby for several amateur auto enthusiast­s. As we believe in making motorsport­s accessible to everyone in India, we look forward to the developmen­t of active culture in India by creating platforms like Autocross,” he added.
