Hirani gets nostalgic about the Dutts

Besides being one of the most respected and successful film-makers,

Rajkumar Hirani (left) has another unique distinction – of having worked with the late Sunil Dutt (in Munna Bhai MBBS; 2003) and the latter’s son, Sanjay Dutt (in the Munna Bhai series).

Probably that’s why the film-maker, who is currently shooting for a biopic based on Sanjay Dutt’s life, is “getting nostalgic” with memories of shooting with the father-son duo in the first instalment of Munna Bhai series.

important part in Sanjay’s life and so, his character would be very important in the biopic. Fortunately, Raju sir has had the chance to not only interact with Sunil Dutt but also shoot with him, so he knows him much better as compared to other film-makers,” says an insider.

Interestingly, Hirani is the only film-maker in the current times, who hasn’t just interacted but also shot with both the Dutts. “Now, as he shoots with their reel life characters, Ranbir Kapoor (who plays Sanjay Dutt) and Paresh Rawal (who plays Sunil Dutt), all the memories of his first shot with Sanjay and Sunil Dutt have been refreshed. He also has a lot of stories and experiences of shooting with the real life father-son duo from those times to share with his cast and crew,” adds the insider.
