RENUKA SHAHANE’S BACK ON THE SMALL SCREEN
The actor, who is often seen in ad films these days, might take up a television show
Renuka Shahane is once again ready for the small screen. The actor, who wowed the audience with her stellar performance in TV shows such as Sailaab and Kora Kagaz, is in talks for a television show. Of late, the actor has been seen on the tube in numerous advertisements. She says, “I got a cold drink ad overnight and people liked it. Then I did another ad, in which I was apparently cast for my smile. The third ad with the Women’s Day concept with Sachin Khedekar, was interesting. So, all these ad opportunities came back-toback, and people suddenly felt I was back. I hadn’t gone anywhere. I was working on and off. People now feel that I am willing to work regularly, and I am being offered good stuff.” The actor says she enjoyed being part of the ads that had a special theme and message, and resonated with the audience.
Renuka adds that she was working only in projects that she was comfortable with. “I always look out for interesting roles, and I did a few Marathi films last year. I also did a Hindi film, which should release soon. I agree that I am more visible this year.” It’s rumoured that the actor is doing a historical TV show and will start shooting for it soon. Ask her about it, and she says, “I am in talks and I am interested in doing TV. But doing a daily also means that it will be time consuming. I am also working on a script and hope to direct it early next year.”
When asked if returning to TV after seven years would be tough, Renuka says, “Today the daily soap situation is tough and would mean long hours and channel supervision, which wasn’t the case when I did TV.”
