After working for more than two decades on television and ap appearing in multiple hit showss such as Kahaani G Ghar Ghar Kii, actor RinkuR Karmarkar feels h honoured that the industry still offers her ““strong roles”. She says sh she wants to contribute to every show that she is a part of.of. ““II wwouldn’t want to be a partpart ofo shows where I am standingstand in the background. II amam not meant for it. Give meme ffour good scenes, but I needneed to have a role that is worth it,” says the Yeh Vaada RahaRaha ((YVR) actor. RinkuRin has worked in shows suchsuch asa Swabhimaan, Itihaas, andand NNa Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha, and says she enjoys negative roles as they give her more to do. She says, “There is no boundary for [negative] characters. I like experimenting in these roles and want to give more to the audiences. I have done positive roles, but become boring after a point.”

Rinku has been known to take her work seriously. In fact, she took her last role as Tai in YVR to an extreme when she shaved off all her hair. “I am quite proud of that role. It was kickass, and when I heard about it, I knew I wanted to do it. I was ready to even take a pay cut so that the role didn’t go to anyone else (laughs),” she says.

Rinku hasn’t taken any breaks since the shooting for YVR ended, but she is glad she bagged a good role in her new show, Jaat Ki Jugni. “The fact is that actors are forced to go on a break, either due to a lack of shows you want to pick or lack of work. No actor wants a break. I am a workaholic and I enjoy my work. I never look forward to a break (laughs).

I wouldn’t want to be a part of shows where I am merely standing in the background. I am not meant for it. RINKU KARMARKAR, ACTOR
