PRIYANKA’S TRIPLE TREAT
The 64th National Film Awards have been announced and actor-producerduc Priyanka Chopra ((be below) and her mother, Madhu’sMa Chopra’s debut MarathiMa production VentilatorVen has won awards in three categories — Best Direction, Best Editing and Best Sound Mixing.
When HT Café contacted Madhu, who is the coproducer of the film, she said, “Winning three National Awards for our first Marathi film is fabulous. We are so happy that Ventilator has made such a positive impact.”
When asked about Priyanka’s role as a film producer, she says, “She is a hands-on creative head of our production house. She is responsible for all our projects even though she is not in Mumbai. Priyanka is committed to telling good stories with local talent and ethnicity from various regions. Also, Maharashtra has a rich art and cultural background. It was natural for our production house to find such a brilliant script that had richness and purity in its story telling.”
Talking about their vision as film producers and the kind of films they would like to make, Madhu says, “At present, we are committed to telling good stories from various parts of India — stories that define the local culture, traditions and diversity. We will definitely make Hindi films, God willing. We have a team of dedicated and talented people, who help us to make good films.”
