I’ve always been an avid cook: Imran

He was last seen on the big screen in 2015 in Katti Batti. Imran Khan has been missing from the silver screen ever since. However, HT Café has now learnt that the actor is back in front of the camera, but for a web series. The Delhi Belly (2011) actor shot for the first episode of a food show that’s being hosted by Mini Mathur.

“Mini is a close friend of Avantika (Malik; wife) and mine. I share a great equation with the show’s producers. The director (Karishma Kohli) is also an old friend. I thought it would be great fun to be on that set, and indulging in one of my favourite hobbies [cooking],” says Imran.

Imran has been “an avid cook” since he was a child, and tends to gravitate “more towards Italian and continental styles of cooking”. “Honestly, if a delicacy tastes good, I would like to learn how to make it. I’m pretty famous for my Bolognese lasagna (laughs),” he says.

Mini, whose last gig as an anchor was the sixth season of India Idol in 2012, calls the first episode “magical”. “It’s like everything came together and felt so right. Besides being an outstanding cook, Imran was an amazing guest — funny, witty and so patient. The show is about food and memories. So, a lot of family recipes, comfort food and stories will be discovered through travelling,” she says.
