A thrilling treat for film fans
As a film genre, psychological thrillers haven’t been explored much in Bollywood. However, Mirror Game: Ab Khel Shuru, starring actors Parvin Dabas, Pooja Batra and Omi Vaidya, promises to give fans a reason to cheer, this June.
Shot entirely in the US, the film is about a psychology professor in New Jersey, essayed by Dabas, battling complications both in his personal and professional lives. When his path crosses with an ambitious young student who asks help with his research, the professor finds himself getting sucked into a whirlpool of mind games that he seems to have little control over. Throw in deceit, an affair and a police investigation and you have an edge-of-the-seat thriller.
While Omi, known best for his role in 3 Idiots (2009) has a pivotal role, Pooja will be seen as an investigative police psychologist for the first time in her career. Speaking about the film, director-writer Vijit Sharma says, “I have worked on a textured, layered cinematic journey for the audience with Mirror Game: Ab Khel Shuru. The idea is to send them on different exploratory paths through the life of the professor.”
The film’s trailer has just been released and is already a hit on social media. Dabas feels fans will love the film too. “The film takes up a less explored genre in Hindi cinema and does complete justice to it. I enjoyed playing the lead with manyy different shades.’’
Adds Pooja, “The script is engaging, and my character is intense.”
Produced by iCelerate Films and Rahula Kochar, written & directed by debutant Vijit Sharma, the psychological thriller, Mirror Game: Ab Khel Shuru will release on June 2, 2017. Trailer Out now.
