Karan Tacker (left), who has been part of several TV shows such as Rang Badalti Odhani and Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai, is trying his luck in films now. He feels actors on TV are “huge in smaller towns and in metros like Delhi”. “There is a certain perception about actors who have done television serials. While auditioning for films, the stamp of belonging to television is hard to erase. YYou have to break it. However, working on the small screen also gives you a certain amount of stardom. When I meet a director or producer, they know who I am because oof my work on the tube. I am not a ‘nobody’ to them, which is great,” says Karan.

The host-actor says meeting film-makers and interacting with them helps tthem understand how different one is from their on-screen persona. “Casting directors wouldn’t meet actors from TV until some time ago. It is a challenge, but Sushant Singh Rajput and Ayushmann Khurrana have paved the way, as they started their career with TV and went on to doing films,” he says.

Karan also enjoys keeping in touch with his fans. He is very active on social media, and he says one should treat such platforms as a tool of communication. “I think social media is great, as it helps public figures stay in touch with people who like their work. For example, I follow Shah Rukh Khan and other celebrities to know what they are doing in their lives. It is a great way to let people into your lives. It keeps the fans excited and helps you gauge what people like and don’t like about you. Yes, there are people who bash celebrities too, but they are a small number. However, there are some actors who post too much as well,” he says.
