I’m a fan of psychological thrillers: Parvin Dabas
It’s only been two weeks since the first trailer for psychological thriller, Mirror Game: Ab Khel Shuru, was released, and it has already garnered over a million views. The film, set in New Jersey, USA, revolves around a psychology professor played by Parvin
Dabas (left), and the difficulties he faces in his personal and professional life. “I am glad the trailer was received so well. It’s a validation that people are looking forward to the film, because a trailer essentially gives you a peek at the film. This also means that there is an audience for psychological thrillers,” Parvin says.
Speaking about the genre, Parvin says that if psychological thrillers from Hollywood do well in India, it proves that people are interested in this kind of cinema. “Our audience is opening up and experimenting, as far as our films are concerned. If you give them good content, there will be takers. Look at films like Inception (2010). They did so well in our country. The best thing about this genre is that it makes you think. The story stays with you long after you’ve seen the film, which is why I am a huge fan of psychological thrillers.”
The film is helmed by director Vijit Sharma and also stars Pooja Batra and Omi Vaidya. “I play a professorf who is successful, but is going through a personal crisis. His wife wants to leave him, and in a scenario like this, a relationship can wreak havoc, as a lot is going on in his mind. We have a great ensemble cast and every actor has played their part beautifully,” Parvin says.
