Ronit Roy says all his films this year are projects to watch out for.

There is pressure to deliver in every film, as you have a job to do. My race is with myself and not with any other actor. RONIT ROY, ACTOR

After Kaabil, Ronit Roy was seen in an Amitabh Bachchan-starrer, and has three other films, including Munna Michael and Lucknow Central, that are slated to release this year. The actor feels “really good” about the films, and is glad about a power-packed year. He says that the release of so many films in the same year was a conscious decision. “I had to turn down a lot of other films, as I had enough on my plate. Moreover, they were not the kind of films I wanted to do.”

He goes on to say, “I have worked on TV, and done three shows in one year. Compared to that, four film releases in one year isn’t that much. I shot for three of these movies this year and usually I am needed on a film for 20-25 days. Taking that into account, there is enough time left. The work schedule is pretty relaxed.”

Ronit admits that working with Tiger (Shroff in Munna Michael) and Farhan (Akhtar in Lucknow Central) was “fabulous”. “Farhan is an actor, director, writer, singer and musician. He is very talented. Munna Michael is an entertainer and has dance, drama, action, romance and comedy. There is Nawaz bhai (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), who is a playing a different role from what he normally is seen in and so am I. I play the role of a serious guy, but whatever he does comes across as light-hearted. This year, all my films are going to be ones to watch out for.”

With movies such as Udaan (2010), Ugly (2013) and 2 States (2014), Ronit has enthralled audiences and industry alike with his acting abilities. But he’s not a man who rests on his laurels. “There is pressure to deliver in every film, as you have a job to do. My race is with myself and not with any other actor. People expect a certain level of performance from me, be it film-makers or the audience. There is always a responsibility on your shoulders to get out there and deliver,” he says.
