He is back on the big screen after two years.

Himansh Kohli (left) says that the cheering of fans, as he goes around colleges in the country promoting his upcoming film, Sweetiee Weds NRI, is music to his ears. “It feels great when I see college students welcoming me and the other cast members with so much enthusiasm. It makes me feel that I am doing something right,” says Kohli, who made his debut with Yaariyan (2014).

So, do people still remember him as the boy who grooved to ‘Blue hai pani pani?’ “Well, it helps them connect to me instantly, but the trailer of Sweetiee Weds NRI is also getting a lot of likes on social media. Youngsters like it already,” he claims.

The film is a rom-com that traces the journey of an NRI Gujarati boy who comes to India to get married. “The moment I read the script, I knew it would be up my street because the audience has liked me in the chocolate boy avatar before. And this is a similar genre. I did not want to try anything completely different in my second film,” says Kohli, who is all set to try his hand at comedy with this film. “The film has clean comedy that the entire family can watch together. The film also gives a simple message that it’s not always a great idea for parents to be obsessed with NRI grooms,” he says.

Written by Tariq Mohammad and directed by Hasnain Hyderabadwala, Sweetiee Weds NRI releases on June 2.
