When Dutt got emotional
Actor Sanjay Dutt’s comeback film, Bhoomi, is making noise for all the right reasons. The film is said to be a revenge drama that explores the relationship between a father and daughter, and Dutt, who will be seen on celluloid after a long hiatus, will play the father in the film.
According to sources, director Omung Kumar and producers Sandeep Singh and Bhushan Kumar had a short deadline for the film even when they were looking for a writer. But when they met writer Raaj Shaandilya, who had earlier written scripts for comedies, they decided to rope him in for Bhoomi and get things moving. However, Dutt wasn’t too sure of Raaj even though the writer had penned about 625 scripts, the source says.
“Much to Dutt’s surprise, however, Raaj completed the script in two months. When he was narrated the script, Dutt was impressed by the hard work put in by Raaj,” the source adds.
An elated Raaj says he worked for 15 hours every day to complete the project. “Dutt saab once told me that writers can write anything, so I was working day in and day out. After hearing my script, he cried and hugged me. It was then that he grew confident about me. I’m thankful I got the chance to write a melodramatic script for him,” says Raaj. He adds that Dutt is a genuine person and gave his inputs for some scenes.
