‘ This break is good for me’
Gautam Rode has been a busy man. He went without a break for more than four years while working in the TV shows Saraswatichandra, Maha Kumbh: Ek Rahasaya, Ek Kahani and Suryaputra Karn. But the actor has been taking it slow for the past year. He shot for a feature film and a short film, but hasn’t taken up a television show yet.
Gautam says he has been waiting for a good project. “Now, it is a different kind of waiting. When you are new, you want work, but right now, I have to wait for the right roles. It is hard, as you feel tempted by the money. I don’t want to get into a typical show. I would like the narrative of the show to be male-oriented or have a balance between the hero and heroine rather than being oriented around just the women. I am waiting for such a role in TV or films,” he says.
The actor believes “good film offers” will come his way after his film releases and does well at the box office. “The scripts coming my way right now aren’t that interesting. Basically, once your TV show is a hit, people offer you better work. I don’t wait for anything to happen; I instead look at all genres and I am open to any good interesting roles,” he says.
Speaking about his short film, Gautam says he hasn’t played such an “intense and interesting” character before. He says, “I would rather do roles that are powerful than typical. I have the liberty to wait. I have worked my way up, and I worked for four-and-a-half years nonstop, so this break is good for me. I want to contemplate my next move and where I am going.”
