‘Where’s the money?’: Salman reacts to being on Forbes’ list
Actor Salman Khan is known for his straightfaced repartees, and he pulled off one recently when he was asked how it feels to be named on the Forbes’ list of the highest paid celebrities in the world. Salman said, “I seriously don’t have that money. I was going through the list and thinking, ‘Yeh paise kahan hai, bhai? Kidhar? (Where’s all this money? Where?)’ When a film makes ` 500 crore, only a very nominal amount from that comes to you. It’s just that your business is worth ` 500 crore.”
As per this list, actor Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan are world’s 65th and 71st highest-earning celebrities with $38 million and $37 million in earnings. Actor Akshay Kumar is ranked 80th with a kitty of $35.5 million.
Meanwhile, many may think that Salman is under pressure for the unexpected under-performance of his latest release, but the actor seems unfazed. In a recent interview, he talked about his market value and how he sees the changes in the functioning of Bollywood. He said, “From then until now, if you see, all of us boys (from the ‘90s) have grown older. We’re all in our 50s now, and we’re still jumping, and it hurts like crazy. But we’re still working hard on ourselves because we know the value. We have gone through a time when we wanted work, but didn’t have any.”
ACTOR SALMAN KHAN SAYS THAT HIS FILMS MAY BE MAKING ` 500 CRORE AT THE BOX OFFICE, BUT HE GETS JUST A SMALL PART OF THAT MONEY.
