A musical bonanza

Veteran film-maker Suneel Darshan’s upcoming musical romantic mystery, Ek Haseena Thi, Ek Deewana Tha is the amalgamation of a modern day love story with the perfect blend of music and melody. The film-maker, who launched Priyanka Chopra in Andaaz (2003), relaunches his son, Shiv Darshan. Natasha Fernandez, too, makes her debut in this film, which also stars Upen Patel.

A source says, “A strong believer in stories with Indian ethos and soulful music, Suneel has gone back to the melody of Nadeem Saifi from the Nadeem–Shravan combo in his romantic mystery.”

Appearing confident about his film and overwhelmed by the response to the music, Suneel says, “For Indian cinema, if the story is the body then music is its soul. After completing the script, the next important ingredient was music — songs demanded by the situations in the script,” adding, “Music maestro Nadeem and I had worked on seven movies through the early 2000s. He started composing music for this film from Dubai, where he resides. It was pre-decided that Palak Muchhal would render the female vocals. However, the male singer, Yasser Desai was chosen after several voices were tested; he best suited the tunes Nadeem had delivered.”

Shot in the picturesque locales of United Kingdom including Cornwall, Dartmouth, Cardiff and Manchester, the film made under the banner of Shree Krishna International, releases today,

June 30.
