RANBIR, ANUSHKA’S NEW TALENT SHOW
Kapoor and Sharma will introduce two new talents, Raj Kapoor’s grandson Aadar Jain and Delhi girl Anya Singh, at an interactive event today
New blood is always welcome in the world of cinema. Now, the newest faces to enter theth world of showbiz a are Aadar Jain and Anya Singh, who are set to be introduced to today (July 5) at a special interaction and media event in Mumbai. The newbies were ‘discovered’ by the talent-spotters of filmmaker Aditya Chopra’s production house. Interestingly, as HT Café has exclusively learnt, is that Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma will introduce Aadar and Anya, respectively. Aadar is Ranbir’s cousin, both being the grandsons of the late actor and film-maker Raj Kapoor. Aadar is the younger son of Rima Jain, the second daug daughter of Raj Kapoor and sister of Rishi Kapoor. A source tells us, “A Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute alumnus, Aadar has assisted Farah Khan on Happy New Year (2014) an and Karan Johar on Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016). After that, he auditioned for a film by director Habib Faisal, who also launched Arjun Kapoor in Ishaqzaade (2012) alongside Parineeti Chopra.”
Anya, on the other hand, is a Delhi girl who moved to Mumbai to follow her dream of becoming an actor. She had a year-long stint with the industry, appearing for auditions, before she bagged Faisal’s film.
Aadar and Anya’s debut brings back the focus on the insider-outsider debate. Aadar can be called the “consummate insider”, but Anya Singh is a typical outsider who has always been “confident of making it in on her own”.
The source says, “A lot has already been said about the insider factor in Hindi films. While its widely believed that being an ‘insider’ makes getting a break easy, for outsiders, things are always supposed to be tougher. So, who better to present them to the world than the ‘insider’ Ranbir and the ‘outsider’ Anushka?”
