‘It was a surreal experience’
Says Sonam Kapoor as she wore a ‘really heavy outfit’ at Paris Couture Week; adds she was ‘super worried’ as she ‘didn’t want to fall or trip’
She is known for her perfect sartorial choices — be it her red carpet appearances or her airports looks. And earlier this week, Sonam Kapoor turned several heads when she became the showstopper at Ralph & Russo’s show at the Paris Couture Week 2017. Following the feat, she became the first Indian ever to close a fashion show at the Paris Couture Week.
“It was a surreal experience and I enjoyed every moment of it. Honestly, it feels great that I have done something like this,” says Sonam, adding further: “It was a “completely different experience for me in terms of just the way the show was organised. I felt that this is the moment that I am going to cherish for the rest of my life. Michael [Russo] and Tamara [Ralph] are dear friends, and I’m so happy I could do this for them.”
Adding that she’s “extremely close” to the designers, Ralph and Russo, the Neerja (2016) actor says walking the ramp for them “was a fabulous feeling.” She adds: “Tamara has such an amazing vision about what she wants to do and what she aims to showcase. It’s brilliant. It feels extremely satisfying to have been part of it.”
On the sidelines of Paris Couture Week, Sonam also hobnobbed with several big names from the international fashion circuit including American supermodel, Arizona Muse. “I met a lot of models and also Arizona, who is extremely sweet. Actually, all of them were very nice to me. It was a very special experience,” she says.
What was going on in her mind before she hit the ramp? “First of all, I had to wait for 20 minutes in the mock (drill). Plus, it was a really heavy outfit, so I was like, ‘oh my God. I really don’t want to fall or trip on anything.’ I was super worried about that but it all worked out well. It was amazing and I enjoyed myself at the after party at night (laughs),” she says.
