Alok Nath misses getting letters from fans

- Shreya Mukherjee

Alok Nath planned his 61st birthday celebrations much in tune with his on-screen sanskaari image. “Birthdays are like any other day for me, but my family keeps giving me small surprises. Like every year, my family this year also had surprises for me,” says Nath, who is known for his work in films as well as television. He says he loves the family tradition of making sweets at home, giving gifts to people who work for him, and going to the temple on his birthday every year.

Wishes from his close friends in the fraternity and his fans have made his birthday special in the previous years. “Gone are the days of letters. I miss those days. My fans used to wish me via letters, and I loved reading them. In this age of social media, everyone is connected through the internet. My fans take out time to wish me on my birthday (on social media) and that is also something that I cherish,” adds the Maine Pyar Kiya (1989) actor.

Going down memory lane, the actor remembers how, as a kid, he used to be pampered by his parents and relatives on his special day. New clothes, delicacies and gifts would make his day all the more interesting. “Those days were fun. As a kid, I used to get very excited but now things are different. At this age, the thought that comes to your mind is that your days are numbered,” he says adding, “But I still have time left to do a lot. And I will continue to give my best.”
