Find out what actor Dipika Kakar’s concerns are when it comes to crossing over from television to the big screen.
Dipika Kakar says she is happy being on TV; adds that she doesn’t plan things in her career
After quitting her successful TV show that she was a part of for six years, Dipika Kakar participated in the dance reality show Nach Baliye with her partner Shoaib Ibrahim. Currently, the actor is enjoying her time off. The couple “had a blast on the show” and now are focusing on their impending wedding preparations. “Things are in the planning stage and a lot of things haven’t been locked as yet. We are taking it slow as we want to enjoy ourselves. We have started making lists of things that we have to do. The wedding date too hasn’t been decided but tentatively, it will be in December or January,” she says.
Ask Dipika if she ever revisited her decision to quit her hit TV show and she says, “I took the decision at the right time. I was mentally tired of doing the show for so long, and I really needed a break. I wasn’t being able to do justice to the role anymore, and it was the right time to leave. I am enjoying this down time. I am not really missing the sets yet. I don’t know what to say (laughs). I felt sad when I was leaving but because the parting was planned and it was a well thought out decision, I was prepared for it, and it was okay. I was looking forward to a change and some free time.”
After success of her show, Dipika is also looking for another interesting project. But unlike her peers who are also keen on doing films, she says films are not her cup of tea. “Films are not on my mind. I am happy being part of the television industry. Bollywood today is bold — right from the dresses to the scenes, I won’t be comfortable doing that [films]. It is not something that interests me. I am satisfied with TV serials. Moreover, I don’t plan much about my life or career. Fortunately, I get opportunities and things work out. I have met some people and let’s see if something good works out.”
