CELEBS ‘MOST OF MY JOKES ARE BASED ON MY PERSONAL STORIES’

Stand-up comedian Sahil Shah doesn’t mind being the butt of jokes. Touring the city for his show Childish Behaviour, Shah tells us why he named it so. “It’s called Childish Behaviour because it’s about being a kid and never growing up. The child in me is still active and loves to come out on stage. My best childhood memories are about running around, laughing at stupid things and playing with toys –– which I still do. So, the whole show is about having fun on stage.”

Shah admits to being a funny kid, who always cracked jokes to make people laugh. And, if people didn’t laugh, he would become the butt of jokes just to make them laugh. “Laughter is the best therapy ever. I feel so good after doing a show. I get to talk to people, make people laugh and end up feeling happier. When a lot of people say ‘thanks, I was having a bad day and you made it better’, it makes me feel happy.”

And, it’s not only Shah who is famous, even his parents are. He says, “People constantly come to them and say ‘Oh you’re Sahil’s parents. Classic Rock Coffee Co, Kalyani Nagar Saturday, August 12, 8.30pm onward How is he at home? Is he funny all the time? We love his work. Please say hi from us’. It’s a lot of fun.”

Shah draws his inspirations from everything that happens around him. “Most of my jokes are based on my personal stories and incidents that have happened to me or really stupid things that I want to talk about. I always end up laughing on stage because I love talking about the silly stuff.”

When it comes to dealing with online trollers, he says he first talks to them and then ignores them because they ‘never change’. And, what about hecklers? “When I am in control of the situation and there are hundreds of people watching me, I always deal with the heckler on the immediately. This way they shut down because they are surrounded by hundreds of people who just want to enjoy the show.”
