FUNCTIONAL TRAINING — A CIRCUIT OF ALL ROUND FITNESS

-

Pain, passion and progress is the motto emblazoned on the wall of the functional training room at Gold’s Gym, Bandra. The equipment placed at the stations included the circuit or functional training area where the participants would be in for some ‘pain’ in their ‘passion’ to achieve ‘progress’ in their fitness journey. They were there as a part of the Hindustan Times Fitter Mumbai initiative to experience functional training.

Sagar Pednekar, manager, fitness technical training, Gold’s Gym, India, explained, “Functional training is a combination of workouts used in your day-to-day life, giving maximum benefits of weight loss, making you agile and strong. You don’t have to be advanced in fitness to do functional training.”

After an initial warm up round, the participants were each assigned a station to start the circuit and after a minute at a particular station they would move on to the next, almost like a relay.

Aanchal Bajwa, an anchor and marketing consultant, who participated in the workshop said, “Coming to the circuit training workshop has really put me on track. It has several exercises put together and breaks the monotony of the gym. I feel it’s important, especially for today’s youth, to have initiatives like the Hindustan Times Fitter Mumbai which gets us to start thinking about fitness.”

Sagar added, “I would say every individual needs some fitness regime in their life. Through this association of Gold’s Gym with Hindustan Times we trust more people will be encouraged to incorporate fitness in their lives.”
