‘I feel I have become mature’

Says actor Param Singh who is disappointed with the sudden decision of his TV show ending this month

Param Singh is in shock because his TV show is coming to an abrupt end after running for nine months. After news that his co-star Niti Taylor would be exiting the show this month, and the serial was in the process of being revamped, he heard that the show is wrapping up. “It’s shocking to say the least. I couldn’t react when my producers called to say they were ending the show. I don’t know what happened as plans for season 2 of the show were underway, and actors were signed on too,” says the Sadda Haq actor, adding, “I felt really sad but I pulled myself together. Sometimes things are not under your control and no one can do anything in these circumstances. I will go on a holiday now and chill.”

Param says he lived the role for the longest time as he shot for the pilot of the show in July and began shooting for it in November last year. In nine months, his character, which was of a slave underwent a metamorphosis, which helped him “learn a lot about acting”. “I would shoot 28 days a month and this show became a huge part of my life. I learnt a lot on the show, and I feel I have become mature. But now with the show ending, one has to move on.”

Ask him if Niti’s exit affected the show’s fate and Param says, “I don’t think so. The channel changed the strategy altogether. After the decision to end Niti’s character was taken, and a new chapter was being planned on the show, we were working on that. New actors were signed on but this sudden decision has surprised everyone. Maybe it is a marketing strategy of the channel to wrap up the show.”
