BOLLYWOOD ‘I WANT TO CREATE GOOD TV CONTENT’
Basking in the glory of her film Gurgaon, actor Ragini Khanna wants to venture into content creation for the small screen
After receiving much critical acclaim for her role of Preet in the thriller film Gurgaon, actor Ragini Khanna is on a high. The actor, who has acted in films such as Teen Thay Bhai (2011) and Bhaji in Problem (2013), has shot for Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Ghoomketu too. She is now looking forward to surprise the audience with her next set of roles. We caught up with the actor for a tête-à-tête on her future plans and past experiences. Excerpts:
How are you feeling after the release of Gurgaon?
I’m overwhelmed. It has been a pleasant surprise for people who follow my work. I hope to break barriers both as an actor and person. The idea is to reach out to different sectors of audience by diversifying my looks and roles. I want to generate new audience and reach out to the mass too.
How do you plan to work towards it?
In the last two years, while preparing for Gurgaon, I had cut myself off from many things. I worked hard on myself — the way I think and perceive things. I did a lot of things out of my comfort zone. I wanted to expand my thoughts. Now, I feel selfassured. The idea is to get the best commerce and the best art together.
How do you look at your film career after three releases?
I never concentrated much on movies. My career on TV has been great and now that I am focussing on films, I will achieve bigger glory there too. Earlier, I couldn’t give time to films. Fortunately, my choices on TV were accepted by both masses and classes. I’ve always been lucky. I even wrote scripts in the last two years with my director friends. Now, I want to create content for TV, but not immediately. Today, when Gurgaon has commended me as an actor, I don’t want to divert my time to anything else. I want to live many lives through my roles.
And what is happening with the film Ghoomketu?
The moment I hear from the producers, I will be there. Right now, I want to work in good movies with acclaimed directors. I want to work with Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar. I want to do independent films and big commercial ones too.
