Director Shree Narayan Singh’s second film, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha received much appreciation both from critics and masses. The Akshay Kumar-Bhumi Pednekar starrer, which went on to earn over 100 crore, is based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan — a campaign to keep the streets of India clean. The film recently saw its television premiere on Doordarshan.

Elated with the feedback and the rising box office figures, Singh says, “I’m happy with the response that the film has garnered. I’m thankful to the audience for loving our film. I like making films which touch the core of the heart of my viewers. This film also carries a strong social message. I want to make all kinds of films.”

Amid speculations on his next project, Singh reveals that he has finalised on his next film and even found his lead actor. Actor Shahid Kapoor has been roped in for the lead and like Toilet this movie carries a social message, too. “I am thrilled to work with Shahid Kapoor as he brings in a certain element of realism to his characters. It is going to be an interesting project with Shahid in the headlines.”

Reminiscing his first meeting with Shahid, he says, “In my first meeting with Shahid, within the first five minutes, we both had decided to work together. That’s the kind of synergy we share. We developed a strong creative equation.”

The untitled film is speculated to go with the title Roshni. “The film with Shahid is not titled. The scripting is in process. The film will be a drama with a strong social message and human values. It will also have an inherent emotional quotient, reminiscent my previous film,” he adds.
