Emotional outburst for Sanjay and Aditi
Shooting for his comeback film, Bhoomi was quite an emotional roller coaster for actor Sanjay Dutt. The cast and crew reveals that there were quite a few times when everyone in the cast broke down and the shooting had to be stopped until the actors regained composure.
Talking about one such instance, a source reveals, “On a particular day, there was a scene being shot where both Sanjay and Aditi are doing the Ganesh aarti together. Parts of this scene are in the trailer as well. This scene is emotionally high strung and comes at a crucial juncture in the film. As the scene was being shot,
I didn’t want to cut the scene so I took over and sang the aarti but I also choked up with emotion and we were both in tears. ADITI RAO HYDARI, ACTOR
there was pin drop silence on the sets and both the actors were totally involved in the scene. At one point during the shooting, both Sanjay and Aditi started crying. It became so emotional that director Omung Kumar forgot to say ‘cut’ and suddenly the two actors were hugging each other and crying. Omung Kumar s stopped the shoot as he wanted to just let the two actors get back to being themselves.”
Talking about it director, Omung Kumar says, “It was a very emotional scene. Baba and Aditi were so immersed in the scene, and when they started crying and hugging each other, everyone else who was working on the set also had tears in their eyes. I just couldn’t say cut because it felt so real that I wanted the scene to continue.”
Aditi Rao Hydari, who plays Dutt’s daughter in the film says, “The scene just became real as Sanju sir stopped singing and I saw tears in his eyes. I didn’t want to cut the scene so I took over and sang the aarti but I also choked up with emotion and we were both in tears. I don’t think anyone called cut. There was total silence on set that day for a bit. A good hug between Bhoomi and baba helped.”
