Prernaa Arora tasted success as a producer with her very first film, Rustom (2016), starring Akshay Kumar. The young producer has now added a new feather to her cap by winning her first award — Power Producer of the Year. Prernaa, who co-owns KriArj Entertainment with Arjun N Kapoor, was recently in Dubai, UAE, to receive the Stardust Achievers Award.

Talking about her first award and why it’s special to her, she says, “I grew up watching award shows and I always wanted to achieve something. And now, it’s almost like a dream come true for me. I believe in awards and rewards. I care about people liking our film and box-office success, but it always feels good when your efforts are lauded. I would happily accept any awards that come my way, because I work very hard for them.”

KriArj as a studio wants to back strong content and break the clutter with interesting subjects, and they’ve managed that with their productions, which include Rustom and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. Prernaa dedicates the award to Akshay, the star of her films. “Everything I have achieved today is because of him. This award was possible because of the kind of choices we made with him. He backed our films as an actor and a producer. I feel special to get this award, as there aren’t too many female producers in the country.”

KriArj has planned a host of films, including Padman, Pari, Parmanu, Kedarnath, Fanney Khan, Shree Narayan Singh’s next with Shahid Kapoor, and films produced by Vishal Bharadwaj and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, among others.
