Aamir’s birthday treat for Reena
The actor on Sunday rescheduled his film’s promotions to plan a surprise birthday bash for his exwife, Reena Dutta
Of late, Aamir Khan has been busy promoting his new film, Secret Superstar. In fact, the actorproducer was in Turkey for three days last week to promote the film, which also features Dangal (2016) actor Zaira Wasim. According to a source, the actor landed back in Mumbai at about 6am on Sunday (October 8) and jumped right into work an hour later, as he had several commitments lined up throughout the day.
But HT Café has learnt that by noon, all the plans for the day were changed due to a special reason — his ex-wife Reena Dutta’s 50th birthday. “Around 12pm, he got a call from his children, Junaid and Ira, who told him that they would like to celebrate Reena’s 50th birthday with a surprise party,” says the source.
Aamir immediately agreed to the idea. The source says, “He rescheduled a number of his film promotional commitments so he could help plan the bash. He oversaw all the arrangements along with Junaid and Ira, since he was in touch with them over the phone throughout the day.”
Finally, a surprise party was planned at Reena’s residence in the evening. “Aamir made sure that a number of things were arranged to appeal to Reena’s tastes. The actor and Kiran Rao attended the bash along with family and friends. Everyone was present at the event since it was an extremely special birthday,” says the source.
Reena has been actively involved in and handles Paani Foundation, a non-profit company set up by Aamir and Kiran in 2016. Aamir couldn’t be reached for a comment.
