‘I wish trolls get a job and a life’

- Pooja Sharma pooja.sharma@hindustantimes.com

Recently, actor Esha Gupta had tweeted, “Proud to be an airforce officers daughter. the real heroes are off the screen #AirForceDay salute to all protecting our nation” (sic). After the actor put this up on her handle on Twitter, a troll responded writing, “Then Why u always do skin show???? I know this is personal but imagine how it looks when a father see those kind of pics.. Have a nice day..” (sic).

When contacted, Esha elaborates on the episode, saying, “Like I say, anyone and everyone who has a smartphone, has access to social media. Trolls are basically people who have literally nothing better going for themselves so they get online and start pulling down others, who are actually trying to make a difference. Their trolls are not always restricted only to celebs.”

Ask her if these remarks affect her in anyway, she says, “I made it [in the industry] on my own terms. If I am bothered by some nobody’s opinion about my morals, it will be my fault. I believe if we are blessed enough by God to get a name and platform where what we say will be heard, then it should be used to say things which matter in this world, not just promoting films. But everyone has a right to their opinion, but trolls will comment on anything... I just wish they get a job and goals for life.”
