Actor Namik Paul started his journey on the small screen with Qubool Hai, but the show that brought him into the limelight was Ek Duje Ke Vaaste. His portrayal of Shravan Malhotra in the latter touched a chord with the audience. Namik shares that the show actually helped him improve his acting skills.

“Working in Qubool Hai was like my internship period while Ek Duje Ke Vaaste was the turning point of my career. I learnt about camera angles, how to express and how to improve my dialogue delivery skills. Working on it was a learning experience, something that I will cherish forever,” he says.

Talking about Shravan and how he connected with the character, Namik adds, “I’m like Shravan in quite a few ways. And I guess that’s the reason why I enjoyed playing the character.”

The actor plays a supernatural character Shiv in his current show, and Namik says he is happy to have got the opportunity to essay varied roles.

“Shravan and Shiv are two different characters and I feel lucky to play different roles. Shiv’s character goes through many changes. And considering that it is a supernatural character, there’s so much more that is required of it,” says Namik.

When it comes to horror or supernatural shows in India, many find the content regressive. Ask Namik about it and he states, “I can only talk about my show and all I can say is that the story is interesting. Everyone has their own opinion and I respect that.”

“It’s just that if we are enjoying Hollywood supernatural shows, why can’t we accept what is being made closer home,” he adds.
