After his breakthrough performance in Neeraj Ghaywan’s Masaan (2015), little did Vicky Kaushal know what life had in store for him. After Masaan, he seems to have become a favourite with film-makers as he was chosen to play a pivotal role in Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanjay Dutt biopic followed by Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi opposite Alia Bhatt. And now he confirms that he has been chosen to be a part of Karan Johar’s short film as part of Bombay Talkies 2, which is a collection of short stories.

Talking about it, he says, “I am thankful that film-makers such as Raju sir and Karan sir are showing trust in me. It is a lot for this newcomer who is only just started. Just to be getting these opportunities means a lot to me.” Shedding light on Bombay Talkies 2, he says, “All the short films will be based on the theme of ‘love and lust’. It’s got me, Kiara (Advani) and Neha (Dhupia) and though the theme is love and lust, it’s also peppered with a lot of

good

situational comedy. Karan had experimented in the first film and he is also sort of experimenting this time, too but it won’t be a serious film. I am excited and it’s like a dream come true to be directed by him,” he says.

The film’s shoot will be wrapped up in a week and it goes on the floors in the first week of December. Recalling, how he bagged the project Vicky says, “It really was a pleasant surprise for me that he considered me for his film. That’s why when someone asks me about my career I say that I feel like I am in a dream sequence. God has been really kind because whatever is happening in my life right now is way better than anything I had imagined when I started off. I feel lucky and blessed that these films are coming my way.”

He has just wrapped up Raazi and can’t stop gushing about the film. “Raazi was special to me as it was my first inlet into Dharma Productions. It felt good when a film-maker like Meghna Gulzar trusts you. Talvar and Masaan released in the same year and I am a huge fan of Meghna’s work. Talvar is easily one of the finest films that released that year. I have said that to Meghna as well. I knew that when I would work with Meghna, it would help me grow — as an artiste and a human being. She is a warm person but when she is on set, she knows exactly what she wants from everyone. Alia of course, is just immensely talented. She can make everything seem easy. Even the most difficult scenes seem simple. She is also very chilled out and easy going,” he says.

Karan, who is looking forward to working with him says, “Vicky is a tremendous talent. He is an actor who can do mainstream work with strong sensibilities and achieve huge success. He is a future major movie star!
