Sonu’s mythological connect

- Pooja Sharma

Sonu Sood is excited about playing a mythological character for the first time in his career. “I believe that it’s going to be tough sporting all those special costumes, but it’s different when you actually experience it,” he says.

Calling the role “challenging”, Sonu says, “You are not used to wearing those kind of costumes with heavy headgears and jewels. It’s also tough to execute the action sequences, taking into consideration the body language and mannerisms. I’ve grown up watching mythological shows such as Ramayana and Mahabharata. As an actor, it’s a different kind of responsibility to play a character that existed in history.”

He adds, “I remember when I started giving trials, I knew that it’s not going to be an easy task. The costumes are heavy but once the camera is on, everything changes. You can’t sit properly, run properly and have to be careful with your head movements, especially when the action is happening. But once you get used to it, the real fun starts.”

Sonu says playing a mythological character was part of the agenda, “I always thought that till you do a costume drama as an actor, you are not complete. Kurukshetra is one of the mo expensive films. It was a hug challenge for me and shootin for almost 50 days was a completely different experience. When they offer me the role, I agreed becaus this was a role I wanted to p out of all the other interest t characters that came my w I am glad I got to play Arju on the big screen,” he says
