Usually actors who wind up a daily soap crave for time off, but actor Eijaz Khan is not one of them. His last TV show, Moh Moh Ke Dhaage (MMKD) ended in August and he admits that he misses working so terribly that he “can’t wait to be back to work again”.

The actor says, “I want to do the kind of work that keeps me busy. I get bored, when I am not acting or shooting. For the last 15 years, my routine comprised of shooting and going home during breaks. And when I’m not doing that, I feel I am not myself and not in my element. I realised that I should keep working to be happy. Even my father says that when I stop working, I look old (smiles).”

Eijaz was supposed to go to Moscow, Russia, and New York, USA, for a trip but he decided to sign the show before heading to the locations.

The actor who gained popularity with shows such as Kkavyanjali, Kahiin To Hoga, Kesar, Laut Aao Trisha and Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai wants to attempt a role that showcases his good looks and doesn’t mind “grey shades” in his character. “I want to play a glamorous role of a goodlooking, suave man. dehati stint,” said Eijaz.

The actor, who has been a part of the industry for more than a decade, feels a lot has changed since he started his career. “I think the biggest change is that I don’t see longevity in actors. I don’t actually blame them, the producers want new faces and they don’t invest so much in a newcomer as Ekta Kapoor did in us. We were given many opportunities as an actor but unfortunately for these new kids, they get one or two shows and end up being a flash in the pan. But there are many young actors who have proved their mettle too. There is a horizontal growth in channels and in the number of shows. Earlier, I remember the longevity of the show was guaranteed for a certain period, but these days a show gets pulled off screen very soon,” he says.
