A Wednesday team returns after nine years
Film-maker Neeraj Pandey’s upcoming film Aiyaary has been stirring a buzz due to its title and cast. In fact, few know that Aiyaary will see the return of A Wednesday (2008) team, as Pandey has collaborated with actors Anupam Kher and Naseeruddin Shah after nine years. A Wednesday, which garnered huge critical acclaim and love from audiences, was one of the landmark films, and marked the debut of Pandey as a director. Pandey has emerged as a master of a genre that is set against the backdrop of intelligence agencies, armed forces, etc.
Although the characters of Kher and Shah in the upcoming crime drama have been kept strictly under wraps, it piques curiosity among audiences as to what roles these veteran actors will be seen portraying.
The title Aiyaary represents someone who is a person who is a master of everything, especially trickery. The film, which is based on a real incident, would also feature actor Manoj Bajpayee as an army officer and Sidharth Malhotra as his protégé. Like all of Pandey’s previous films — A Wednesday, Special 26 (2013), Baby (2015), this too has an ensemble cast with strong characters. The film has been shot across three locations — Kashmir, Delhi and London, UK.
“Neeraj is known to helm films that are inspired by true events and that strike a strong chord with audiences, and this won’t be any different. In fact, the subject of the Aiyaary lends itself to be a Republic Day release,” says an insider.
Directed by Neeraj Pandey, Aiyaary is set to release on January 26, 2018.
