past two years. My sister, brother-in-law and a cousin have planned something and I have been told get to the airport. I don’t know where are they taking me, but I was told to carry some formal wear, so that’s good to know. I am looking forward to it.”

For Ssharad, birthdays are one of the few days that one is pampered, and he says he feels “overwhelmed and blessed” by the gifts his fans send him. “I love it that every year starts on a good note, with a bang — be it with work, love from my fans, or my birthday,” he says.

The actor will soon unveil the poster of his first short film as a director. Talking about what he expects from life in 2018, he says, “There is a lot going on. I have my TV show and my contract with the producers ends in March, so let’s see what happens next. My other short film has gone to the Los Angeles Film Festival. I have a music video dedicated to the Armed forces of India, which releases on January 26. I have been dating Pooja (Bisht), so things have been good. I feel that if you are happy, then you excel in all spheres of life.”

Ssharad admits he is in a good space when it comes to his career on television. “All my daily soaps have been hits, be it Banoo Main Teri Dulhann, Maharana Pratap, or the current one. The fouryear hibernation that happened in the interim was scary. Thankfully, I bounced back, which is rare on TV. I love TV, but I would love to explore digital content or films as well.”
